Digging a fort on Zuma beach
The birthday girl helped with the digging

Later a bit of beach action at Zuma

We were not the only people with the same idea, but we got on the beach in the end and it was just lovely.

Yep that is Scarlett on a mini surf board catching a wave

Sunday brunch

The day after Sophie's birthday, we all went to Geoffreys in Malibu for a posh brunch. Grandma and Grumps are here in Santa Monica for a visit so they came along and enjoyed a super dooper eggs benedict. We had a heat-wave, and Grumps put his shorts on, which just shows you how hot it was. 94 degrees in the shade for 4 days running. (Its back down to 81 degrees today, quite pleasant.)

more unwrapping pics

around about 6 pm on the 21st Mummy finally had a spare 5 minutes to wrap Miss Sophie's presents. She was lucky I found time to buy some at all, says Mummy briskly.

Sophie's 1st birthday

Thank you to everyone who remembered and sent something. Scarlett enjoyed unwrapping Sophie's presents. Sophie had a pretty good time, she licked some pink icing and crawled around a bit.

The British Sunday Lunch

with a california twist - Scarlett got into chewing on a t-bone

Mummy's Ikea trip

Mummy hated Ikea in Brent Cross - and hey the one in Burbank is a horror experience too. She has never done an Ikea trip on her own with 2 kiddies under 4 before, um so that was fun. The hour long drive there and the hour and half long drive back was even more fun. Although it was only in the immense Burbank warehouse on aisle 23, shelf 44, heaving the incredibly heavy box 1 of 3 from the said shelf to trolley (whilst getting Scarlett to hold the trolley steady and telling Sophie not to stand up in her buggy) that Mummy decided she really had lost all common sense, and wondering what in the world she was doing. Surely no storage problem was worth such an expedition.

Still. Here is picture of the bookcase which is great at doing its job.

Scarlett's ballet recital or "my show"

Scarlett's Monday afternoon ballet classes culminated in a recital for parents and other eager onlookers. She was great (of course) - no stage fright and concentrated on all performing all the correct poses at the right time!

After Scarlett's class graduation, a few of the parents and kids went for an early dinner at the Spitfire near Santa Monica airport. There is a very good playground there and we all sat outside on a long table for dinner.

The happy cheese burger face

The beach outside the Coronado hotel in San Diego

A random wedding on the beach

San Diego weekend

we went to stay with Becca & Mike in sunny Balboa park. Mummy and Daddy drove late and when I woke up I was in a new place in a new City. We went to the zoo
and stayed there for hours. We saw elephants, lions, giraffes, gorillas, flamingos...

Only 86 days later

The Kentish Town consignment is here, all 96 boxes of it arrived pretty much safe and sound. Although it was detained for special inspection by US customs, so far the only box which has been oddly disturbed is the box which contained EQ's knickers, why is that?
