Day two, driving to Cambria
These were taken along CA-46. A few miles later, thick fog from the ocean immersed us and we were freezing and thinking we were in Cornwall by mistake.
Day One of our road trip
We drove up the 5 (interstate highway speak) through very hot desert to get to Paso Robles and we stayed at the Adelaide Inn. This was in fact a proper motel just off the CA-46 complete with parking outside your door. It was quite a bargain, featuring big tv, kitchenett and free wi-fi, and very clean with a cute pool. On the downside, the room was dark and motel-ish. We stopped at Lost Hills for lunch, where the temperature according to the car's system read at 109 degrees. Scarlett complained it was too hot to walk the 10 feet from the car to the door of Carls Jr. Filling up the tank in that heat/unrelenting sun just about did me in.
Wandering around Brooklyn on Saturday morning
Manhattan Skyline as seen from BrooklynSophie waiting for her pancakes.
We met some friends from England for brunch at Bubba's in Brooklyn - almost under the bridge. Scarlett and Sophie had fluffy pancakes with maple syrup (real), Mummy had eggs benedict and Daddy had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Claire and Simon went back to see their new puppy and we walked around a bit with Jayne and Delme. We had to fly back to Los Angeles that afternoon so we idled our last hours in a lovely part of Brooklyn.
