Day One of our road trip
the pool at the Adelaide was very inviting after that drive
We drove up the 5 (interstate highway speak) through very hot desert to get to Paso Robles and we stayed at the Adelaide Inn. This was in fact a proper motel just off the CA-46 complete with parking outside your door. It was quite a bargain, featuring big tv, kitchenett and free wi-fi, and very clean with a cute pool. On the downside, the room was dark and motel-ish. We stopped at Lost Hills for lunch, where the temperature according to the car's system read at 109 degrees. Scarlett complained it was too hot to walk the 10 feet from the car to the door of Carls Jr. Filling up the tank in that heat/unrelenting sun just about did me in.
