Korean Friendship Bell & Wayfarers Chapel

The fountain which Sophie had to be torn away from. She was so cross she put her whole body on the floor (face down) and cried and then lifted her head up to check we were watching only to mash it down again with emphasis, thus smacking herself on the floor and collecting another forehead bruise. Doh.
Bit of touristy stuff. This is the lovely and strange Korean Friendship Bell. Given to the US by North Korea in 1981 to symbolise everlasting friendship and understanding between the two nations. It is in Palos Verdes and is actually quite tricky to find. Some people may recognise it from films, the most memorable being the Usual Suspects.

The other photos are of the Wayfarers Chapel also in Palos Verdes. It would be the most amazing setting for a wedding as its made of glass, and surrounded by beautiful pine trees with a stunning view of the pacific ocean. And in fact has featured in the OC. It was built by 1954 and designed by the son of Frank Lloyd Wright.

November sunshine

This place is incredible, it is now the 8th of November and it is still warm. Yesterday the temperature went up to 84 (a bit higher than average for this time of year) so I decided to drive down to Rancho Palos Verdes and take in some beaches on the way back. These photos were taken on Hermosa beach which is south of Santa Monica.

First rain since May 24th

It was quite exciting but was over quickly and the second picture was taken about an hour later. Its the view from the corner of our living room.

Grown ups Halloween party

We had a house warming/ Halloween party of our own on Saturday. It was great fun and almost everyone had donned some sort of costume. The theme was spooky/sexy and it seemed that our friends had found sexy outfits just stashed away in their walk-in wardrobes.

Halloween

A popular trick or treating vehicle
We took the girls trick or treating with a friend of Scarlett's from school. Her neighborhood goes over the top with decorations and sweets and people generally. Trickytreaters appear to be bussed in from other areas because the pickings are so good... There was one house deemed horrible by Scarlett as they had a coffin in their front garden from which one of the teenagers who lived there jumped out from time to time.

What with skeletons rattling from the trees, sheets waving about and fog machine induced fog, that street was pretty surreal. I walked about in a trance myself, popping candy corn to keep my energy level up.

Scarlett and Sophie could not get enough of the excitement.

Halloween morning, blue sky and a strange (to us) 75 degree day.

Much later, we went for a Halloween dinner and bop about in the local night club. We were completely under dressed as everyone had gone to town with their Halloween outfits.
